I'm thinking of doing something new with them. Instead of doing characters only, I want to build the world they'd inhabit... starting with settlers traveling to this new land. They'd have to explore, make use of the natural resources, and find a way to build their little towns, all the way up to cities. I think it could be interesting. I'm mainly posting about it so the idea is out there and I won't just forget about it. Hopefully if I slack off, someone will say "Hey, Ed, what happened with that thing... with the little dudes?..."
In other news, I've bought a ton of art supplies and have even busted out the old Bristol board and acrylic paints. I think some more hands-on artwork is in order. Maybe even something crafty. Well.... craft-based. You know what I mean. Anyway, I've been inspired by something I watched to create artworks a bit faster, and to pick the best from what I've created and just show off a selection of what I've done. I think that may take some of the pressure off, when I'm not thinking "This has to be perfect or else I can't post it online!" Another part of what this artisan said was "I don't like it when the technique is decided beforehand"... or something like that. I have to say -- art can become tedious when you're locked in to one style or technique. You've already decided what you're going to do and how you're going to do it. At that point, the rest of it becomes work. I'd like to have more of a tangible "stream of consciousness" if that makes sense, and just see what comes out of it.
So I'm going to try to make the commitment to start posting stuff weekly, or even more often than that. Gotta get the ball rolling again.
As always, hit me up with requests or suggestions. If you have a larger project you'd like to commission, shoot me a Note.
